The Beginning

The Blokes

Playing at Milhuff's Department Store:  July 1966

Members:  Vaughn Smith (vocals), Ken Cogan (drums), Rod Milhuff (Bass),  Mike Casey (guitar), David Whitt (guitar)

I began my musical career with a group from local high schools

in Portsmouth Ohio.  Because of the influence of the British groups,

we choose the name "The Blokes" because that was a term

for good friends among the English.

I am unable to provide recorded music from this group because we played in the 60's

However, following is a partial list of some of the songs that were popular during that period.

Twist and Shout         Beatles

Satisfaction                Rolling Stones

Wooly Booly              Sam the Sham

Get Off of my Cloud    Rolling Stones

Louie-Louie                The Kingsmen
